Help with hatchling Geomyda spengleri

schroderal Oct 04, 2006 04:57 PM

Hi,
I recently had a geomyda spengleri hatch. I could use help with what to feed the hatchling. Also housing information would be helpful.
Thank you.

Congratulations!!!!
Slugs in a small plastic container with a bit of sphagnum moss to maintain humidity. Place the hatchling in the container to get acquainted with his first meal.
Housing: a sloped "sweater" box (large enough to provide a temp gradient if additional heat added), moist sphagnum on the high end, water no deeper than the height of the carapace on the low end. This setup is good for a year or more. Feed in separate container with water.
Usually no additional heat is necessary; however, if your home is especially cool, CHE to provide some heat over the upper end, ~75-78. A fluorescent, tube or compact, UVB bulb is fine but do include a hide too.
