I have seen, high "orange/reddish" green anacondas in the past, head and belly region suffused with deep orange red coloration, truly spectacular specimens, I am not sure if they outgrow this however, I have seen greens with this said coloration up to 6 feet in leghth, not in adults however, but I am not a big anaconda guy, kelly would be a better choice with his more advanced experience level with this particular ophidian.

thats what i was thinking. maybe a green anaconda with some "high orange or reddish" color. but there is definitely no anaconda with a definite title "red anaconda". right? hmm...this is interesting....are there any pictures?

There are specimens of the green anaconda, E. murinus, with a reddish orange coloration on the sides, belly, and head. Some people call these "high orange" greens. I have seen both large and small specimens with this coloration, so I would say that they can retain this color into adulthood. Most of them appear to originate from the Orinoco River basin, or the northern population of greens in the north and northeastern area of South America. Really nice ones are quite rare.

On a further note, I still believe that the orange postocular stripe seen in many green anacondas is highly indicative of specimens from the northern section of the greens range, basically outside of the Amazon basin.

With the food dyes you can get anything is possible, but this would have to be proven genetically, to be a [sub species].
