Blacktail or Unicolor....?

Weekendherper Oct 04, 2006 06:36 PM

Earlier this year, I purchased an hatchling "blacktail" from a local shop around here (not a breeder). It never had a jet black tail to begin with, but now is loosing its color distinction between its tail and body. It's starting to look more like a Unicolor. Does anyone have experiences with this color change? Could it have been a unicolor all along? Do Uni's hatch out with darker tails?

Any advice would be appreciated!

uni's do hatch out w/ 'smokey' tails though certainy not black by any means. this smokiness does gradually disappear w/ age & growth resulting in uniform, beautifully solid gold colored adults usually by their 3rd year or so. they will however continue to improve w/ age, some being better than others. sounds like you have a unicolor to me.......
