ball not eating..

nikimae31 Oct 04, 2006 08:46 PM

just would like some ideas as to why my ball isnt eating and seems like he is afraid of the mouse. he eats like once or twice in a row, then doesnt eat again for a couple weeks. right now his skin seems like its hanging off of his body as if hes dehydrated but has plenty of water. ive tried a lot of differnt things, and dont want to try live mice unless its the last option. help please~

Sounds like your snake is not feeling to good. To help with the dehydration soak your snake in luke warm water for about 10 mins. i do this in the bath and only fill it abut 2" full, its supposed to help with the dehydaration. On the food thing, if your snake is shy and appears scared of the food one thing you could try is to place a smaller meal than normal half in the snakes favourite hide and leave it over night. You didn't mention how old your snake is if it's small take it to a vets to check for parasites. I lost a royal who had a similar problem which was atributed to parasites and wouldn't wish that on anyone!

Hope this helps, keep us updated.

Good luck
