Slimeballs!!!

flavor Oct 04, 2006 09:16 PM

Came home from work to a freshly laid pile of squirmy goo.

13 live babies ranging from 32.22 - 35.29 g; 1 stillborn; 8 slugs It seems like it's been that kind of year for rainbows. Lots of slugs.

Anyway the mom looks good. She's a 2001 female. The same one that produced my het/hypo clutch last year. The male is a 1996 hypo. He's a sibling to last year's male. Earlier this year, he produced an anery baby so his genes are particularly interesting to me.

All right, enough talk, here's the pics:

I love coming home to this

and this

Only four hypos this year. Two male and two female.

Non-invasive sexing method

Massing the babies before they go to thier boxes.

I'm glad that's over and I'm sure the female is too. She was huge and so uncomfortable looking. Only one more clutch to go this year. The last one is a small female. I wasn't even going to breed her last year but she stopped feeding and was showing signs of being interested. Keep your fingers crossed for her o.k.
