how should i get my gopher snake to eat

gopher-josh Aug 06, 2003 01:05 AM

i have a Pituophis catenifer that i caught about 1 year ago and brought him down to california and he did fine. Now I have just moved up to Oregon(where i caught him) and have lived here for almost 3 months and the snake still wont eat. He looks and acts healthy but it has been really hot lately and i dont have a/c yet. How should i get him to eat? It is starting to cool off and it is 80f in the cage right now shouldn't he eat at 80? Or does it need to be cooler, and wouldnt he eat if hoe gets hungry enough? PLZ reply or email me at nitromaxx2002@yahoo.com with any answers you can give. THANKS.

Make sure he has a hidebox to hide in and feel secure in. Also, if you can lower the temps to around 78, try that. And, he may be in breeding mode as well, since males sometimes go off feed during then.

Hope this helps!
