tips for recovering andean milk snake?

dannygw Oct 05, 2006 03:09 PM

We brought home a male andean milk (~1.5 ft) on Saturday, and due to an unrealized flaw in the new side-opening tank, he promptly escaped. We've repeatedly looked through the room and adjacent rooms to no avail, and our suspicion is that he went into the nearby attic, where it would be quite difficult to find him. So, we're wondering if perhaps we could lure him out with a mouse, or a heating pad, or something of the like.

Any thoughts appreciated!

Glue traps work well. The glue can be destroyed by vegtable oil when you catch the snake. Another good trick is putting plastic bags behind all your large furniture. If the snake crawls on them you will hear it. Those are the two best tricks I know. Good luck
