It's going to depend on how you're setting it up, but most of the time you want to wire it in parallel.

A great way to do it in parrellellel is to use one of those .67 dollar extension cords that has three female outlets at the female end.
You put a dimmer on that extension cord and now you have a dimmer that you can plug three things into. one could be lamp and other two could be for flex watt.
Then you just wire your flex-watt your usual way and plug it into the socket on the extension cord that has the dimmer on it. $.67 extension cords can be bought at walmart.

My way is cheap and effective. You do not need to use the expensive plastic clamps which are specifically designed for flex-watt. Soldering give a cheaper AND better connection!

Ok I am the mose mechanicaly un-inclined person..I have a holdering iron, and the silver stuff.. Now what?? I have also punched holes in the "posts" of flex watt and just taped the ends of the elect. cable down.. Then I got parinoid. Teach us how to solder.. Blue
