TOO HIGH! It should be about 90, the cool side is good though. How is the gradient and ambient temperature? You don't want a hot spot with a sudden drop, you want a smooth gradient across the cage.

It is good that you are posting here asking questions, however this is why you should research an animal BEFORE you buy it.

On the Ihle vid he has a hot spot of 104.

Yes, that is so, but I think he was saying his wall temp was 100 in a basking type setting....

I agree my hot spots read 105....but that is the hottest spot at the probe, right on the heat tape....by the time the heat gets through several layers of newsprint and an inch of aspen bedding it is only 85 - 95F .....

MOST IMPORTANT- Keep a good GRADIENT!

Air temps when your room is 60F can cause respiratory infections...
As long as the cool side is 80F and a hot spot of 90-95F your animal should regulate his or her own body temps...they will let you know what they need...just be observant. My 2 cents...Andy

Depends on whos caresheet ya been reading I guess ?
Our BCI,BCL etc all "thrive" in ambient room temp of 90*
In cage temps vary between 80-88 give or take depending on postion in the room and time of day/season etc......
Anything over 90* is for a RI cookoff IMO(in manys opinion)
To each their own I guess, but there is a time tested way of maintaining healthy stock that doesnt jive with 99% of the caresheet info published to the public. The most profound reason being the people writing up all this data have never left their domicile turf, much less been any where near BCI native geo.locales.
