Cute video plus a feeding question.

Just wanted to show my gecko, Paddington!

Do everyone's geckos wiggle their tails like that before they pounce? It's way too adorable, though I don't think the cricket appreciates it quite as well as I do. :3

Also, about feeding, do I have to limit food or will he stop eating when he's full? He seems to eat a whole lot, so I pull him out while he's still in hunting mode. If he'll pace himself I'll leave him in with the crickets until he eats his fill.

It sounds to me as if you are moving him to a separate container when you feed. I think that is a good idea for crickets. I would leave him in there until he eats his fill. Your gecko will not over eat. I have never seen a gecko over eat. If it is a baby the more food that it will eat the faster it will grow. Just make sure you are gutloading or feeding your crickets and mealworms with good food. I use regular oatmeal and I put potatoes in it for moisture. Prey items need to be fed at least 24 hours before being fed to your gecko. I just leave mine in the gutload constantly. I also feed mealworms and this allows me to leave them in their enclosure. I just put the mealworms in a bowl that is kinda low and I put some pure calcium in the bottom of it so when they strike at the mealies they get calcium as well. Good luck

LOL, I don't think the crickets know what hit em till it's too late. I've got 1 Leo and a couple fat tails that all do the tail wiggle thang. It IS entertaining isn't it ? A far as feeding paddy to much, as young as he is I don't think you need worry. Mine would eat a dozen a day when they were small, but as they've aged they seem to have slowed down on their own. I don't really know if they will overfeed on their own. God luck with him.

I have seen overweight leopard geckos, but with juveniles, there's really no such thing as overeating - they'll eat what they need to grow. Think of them as active teenage boys. When I was 15, my mom's weekly grocery bill was just plain out of control. Now that I'm 28, I still have a fairly quick metabolism, but I don't eat anywhere near as much. My experience with geckos has mirrored that. They eat a ton when young, and then once they reach adult size, they slow down quite a bit, sometimes abruptly.

Oh and yeah, I think just about all of them wiggle their tails before they strike. It's actually one of the more entertaining things about watching them eat, if you ask me .
