What's the best way to deal with getting crickets from their little cage, dust them with calcium and vits, then into my gecko's tank? n/p

My fiance just picks them up in his hands, and then puts them in a plastic bag. For example the bag you get them in or a gallon size ziplock. I prefer to just shake them off the egg crate into the bag. There are some problem with this however, with grabbing them they tend to crawl up your arm and make a break for it. My fiance usually catches them, but chasig crickets around the house can be a pain. As for shaking them off the eggcrate, it is sometimes difficult to get the right amount. Flukers has a funnel like thing that is supposed to help you count them, I have not use it though. They also have the cricket keeper thing at most pet stores, but I havn't used that either. Hope this is of some help.

I feed close to 1000 crickets a day. Here's what I do.
First, I break up the egg crates onto 4 to 6 egg squares (2X2 or 2X3) squares for the crickets to hide in. Then when it's feeding time, I shake them into a plastic bag with a funnel. I dust them in the bag them dump them into a small aluminum paint bucket. If there are any left overs, I dump them back into the cricket bins along with the excess calcium of vitamin suppliment. Then they can eat the rest of the dust, too.

I had one of those "cricket corral" things laying around from awhile back. You can use any container with a hole cut out in the lid that is more than a few inches high. I have a few towelling paper tubes inside the enclosure I keep my crix in. Basically, I just shake the crix into the container from the tubes, shake them around with calcium, and pick them up with my hands and drop them in the cages. I have very few escape, and its easy to count what I feed.
