Boa V.S Carpet Morph Prices!! Insane!!!

inkognito Aug 06, 2003 07:14 AM

I was looking at the boa classifieds, and saw a het albino motley for sale @ 20,000USD. The price is fair!! no doubt!
BUT consider the motley look and then the Jaguar look, what is the nicest snake?? I have a finger on the jags.

Just cant make this seem reasonable Jags 3k, motleys 8k??
For eye pleasure the Jags is better.
what is best black or yellow? And I compare a "drab" normal jag (LOL) to the normal motley... personly I like Yellow.

And now genetics, with motleys they have produces black/grey patternless, spiders black/grey and hypo motleys by crossing to a hypo/salmon..

The original Jag have given us, yellow patternless, yellow hypos, red hypos, and now some white patternless.. a LEUCIST... I cant see why the price is so low... 3000USD is a score.

Look at the prices for lesser platy 25,000USD(ball python) and their genetics, I would realy put the jags in the same ballpark as they yield the same....

If a albino would pop out as Will Leary stated "as for conversation", it would not surprize me.

Please discuss this as I realy want to see what others think of this!
This is not making a bad face at the boa or ball guys, they work hard for their out come, this was merly a statement on the beauty of the animals and their genetic future.

I think boas take longer to grow, and breed. I personally would rather have a RED blood python for $200 than a Jag or a Motley Boa anyday. Beauty is in the eye...

Well, I wonder if part of it is not the popularity of boas. In some ways, carpet snakes seem to still have something of a niche status. They're popular, but not quite mainstream.

I am kind of eh... I don't know.. somewhat disillusioned with the constant obsession with morphs. Some of them are very nice... but sometimes a normal can be a gorgeous thing.

As far as beauty goes I would take a jag over any boa or ball python morph. And I have grown up loving boas and balls, but the jags are just SO cool!

You have a very valid point, I also believe that the Jag is a better looking snake than the motley boa, I believe the motley is the second most overrated boa morph out there only surpassed by the jungle, I am not saying that those morphs are bad looking, I am just saying neither are that special (although super jungles are insane) I personally think supers should go for what jungles go for now, maybe a little more. Back to the Jags, I do think that they are one of the most interesting and variable morphs on the market, and they are worth every penny people ask for them. If we are going to say any market is insane as far as prices go, check the ball pythons sometime. The only morph I could possibly afford would be a ghost and I believe there is nothing special about those at all except as an additive for an exceptional morph. Axanthics for $7,500 is mind blowing. Alot of people are producing them so it is not as if they are extremely rare. Sorry about the rant, you have a valid point but I believe the boa market is relatively tame compared to the bp's.
