Size of 3 year old surinams?

liquidleaf Oct 07, 2006 06:06 PM

I may be adoptiong a pair of surinams that are supposed to be 3 years old. The person who needs to surrender them indicates that one is 6.5 feet long and the other is 7.5 feet long. Isn't this a bit large for 3 year old BCCs? I was thinking perhaps the person has the ages a bit wrong but I don't know BCCs as well as BCI.

Just curious as to if anyone out there has 3 year old surinams who are this large.

That was one of my questions - the person has had them since they were both babies so I am HOPING they have decent temperments, since this would be my first pair of BCC and I'm not sure I'm up to taking two fully-grown bad attitudes, waiting to hear back on that subject.

Thanks for the replies! I do have a couple of pictures and they look to be nice and healthy, but it's hard to tell the exact sizes since they're not full body shots.

I'll let you all know if the adoption works out! In the meantime I just finished putting flooring down in the room I will be using as a dedicated snake room. I can't wait until I move my collection in there!

they are probably not as long as he says, some people have a hard time telling how long a boa is or they could be that long but are slim/slender and not bulky like a BCI. Seems like they could be a little large for there age

...no two snakes of any kind have the exact same temperment, simply you never know how a particular snake may react that is until you try and handle them...some snakes will be willing to be held one day and not want to be messed with the next day...you just have to spend time with your animals and youll learn such things...they might live their entire life being nasty or could turn out to be your best friend!...be gentle and trusting when you handle the boas and you will stand a better chance of having at lest handable snakes when they are 10-13' and weigh about 70 lbs or possibly more...
