ITS A SNAKE!!!!!!!!
derrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We have a female het caramel that is the meanest BP I have ever seen. She strikes at the glass if you walk by her, strikes when you try to take her out of her cage, strikes while you hold her, mauls her F/T rats before she eats(IF she eats), and has a hiss that rivals a puff adder.
She's just one unhappy camper...and for that she gets left alone!
>>derrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I didnt know that balls hissed till I got my 100% het for Pied male
He hissses everytime I get him out But has never struck.. Also hisses while you hold him.. But he is very sweet..
well it is has been proven that aggression increases the more a species is inbred or line bred as they like to call it . and its not just with reptiles it occurs in all species that do selective breeding ,just a side affect.
Not to be contrary but do you have any web or literature links of documented evidence on increased aggression being linked with linebreeding/inbreeding? I am a big fan of diversifying your genetic line but this idea seems a bit farfetched.
Thats what ive been asking him..he really needs to write a book on all this doesn't he...all your guys and gals snakes are mean from line and inbreding..as the man says it's proven ,ahwell i must have the most inbred snakes, there are so mean to me .now i know why.......Thats a nice one

By that assumption humans line breeding dogs from wolves would have ended up with a bunch of crazy animals instead of lap dogs!!
Show me proof because that doesnt even make sense!
Out of the 100 animals in my care the only pissed off ones are the females imported as adults.
just like that. Lot's of bark, no bite!

you get a stupid answer......
It seems more common than some would like to believe.
Has ever Evan stuck at me and all my sand boas are the same as a mater of facked the only one that has stuck at me is a rescue Columb.Red Tail Boa. and BALLS ARE DOSILE BY NATCHUR and unless some thing is wrong should be happy and comfortable in there surroundings and should not strike unless maybe W/C . There are the exception but should be few and far between.
I'm sorry but you post is almost impossible to read.

I'm not trying to be rude but no one is going to take your posts seriously if you can't put a coherent sentence together.

...Can't...stop...must...get...more...balls...
My others are all fine but two i purchased from someone that kept them in tubs.. Im not saying that isnt good. But they were not handled much. They were both so head shy. I have had them for a year now and they are gettting much better.I think the male just like to hiss. LOL

Balls are docile by nature but every single one of my CAPTIVE BORN BPs act differently. I have some that have an insane feeding response and some that shy away from everything. Some like to hiss and bite some like to come out and see what's going on (look and see if it's food before you bite it!).
Comparing a ball python to a columbian boa is silly...I have a 6 foot columbian boa that is "very sweet", but you have to watch yourself around him...he's a boa.
So yes the majority of balls may be docile by nature, but they don't HAVE to be.

I totally agree with "pfan151". It's amazing how many people put up a post without even proofreading it first. Even spellcheck wouldn't be able to help this one.
Well, I mean, remember, they're not trying to be mean (hopefully,
) You're anthropomorphizing the snakes. They're not human, they don't have the same motivations as we do. Maybe you should ask, does anyone have an aggressive BP? Both of mine (captive bred) have gentle dispositions, but don't get near my female if she thinks a mouse is in her future, LOL.

2.1 Corn Snakes (2 Blood Red, 1 Orange Amelanistic)
1.1 Ball Python
I wouldn't call them mean as much as I would say food aggressive. We have quite a few that would take the skin off your nose as soon as you open the tub.But I have seen some down right mean snakes a few times. All they do is strike at you and even after you pick them up they would uncoil themselves and pop you on the knuckle or on the side of your hand.
My big, fat male normal LaVey could be considered mean. He likes to hiss at you before you pick him up; however I usually ignroe it, and actually he has been better about it lately. I just call him a big chubby angry old man, bu I love him to death anyway!

1.3 normal BPs
1.0 Pastel BP (Graziani, from the Sutherlands)
1.0 Boa Constrictor Imperator
0.1 albino Cranwell's horned frog
1.1 breeding Clawed frogs
1.0 black cat
0.2 paint mares, 1.1 paint foals
Also have fancy goldfish, african cichlids, and rats.
tree boa out and see how mean you think Ball pythons are then. BP are very gentle I.M.H.O.
I had a male pastel that would strike at the cage if you looked at him and hissed and struck if i tried to change out the water... but i bought some gloves and worked with him... i can now easily handle him with only a hiss every now and again.
have excellent feeding responses. Nothing like a BP that will stand a quarter of its body out of the enclosure, and then hit anything that moves.
peace,
