New York Permit

Melgrj7 Oct 07, 2006 09:40 PM

Does anyone here know what permit you need to get to keep box turtles in NY state? I tried looking on the DEC site, and well just got confused. Also, if anyone knows, is it even feesable to try? Or do they always just say NO like I have heard?

Thanks for any info

Yes, I read you had computer/puppy problems Mikey winks back at his girls . . . and gives a warning glare to hobo and chip.

Mikey is doing very well. Tomarrow I am making wyvern's box turtle food . . . he better like it, I spent around $100 on all the stuff. If he doesn't though I know the wood turtle at the store will eat it. She eats anything.

The baby tort is doing well. He is over a year old now Cute as anything and full of personality. Goober I never recovered, not sure if I ever told you? I really think she was stolen

Glad you got your comp up and running again . . . I was about to send you a real letter to find out what was up!

Oh no I didn't know that Goober never turned up.
Small torts are easy to steal so it wouldn't surprise me if someone did.
Glad Mikey's doing well & how about the other pets?

All the other pets are well. The baby tortoise is growing, the geckos are well. I gave one gecko to a friend of mine. That weird eye thing that was going through them seems to have stopped, what ever it was. The cat has infected anal glands, but that was taken care of today and she is on antibiotics for a week.

Kitty will be fine.
Glad the gecko eye problem cleared up.
btw we lost Cletus crab, I've had those guys for 5 years but Cletus didn't look well after the last molt, then he molted again within a month but whatever was wrong I guess he didn't recover from it.
Since they are social animals I bought Buster & Kramer so that Crusty won't have to be alone. lol

Stevie Ray the new puppy got nailed on top of his head by a rattlesnake in late Aug. or it may have been early Sept.
He'd already had one vaccine & it seemed to be working. We aren't 100% sure that he got any venom because he only had one bloody fang mark on top of his head. Plus I got him to the vet within 2 hours of the bite. (happened at lunch time when they were closed)I got him in when they opened at 2.
The vet treated him as if he had gotten venom, treated him with steroids, not antivenin so he recovered 100% within one week.
He's begun the vaccines again because if they are stricken in between the 2 shot series, you have to start over again.
The rest of the pets are fine. I realized that this spring Sunny the pac-man will be 9 years old! WOW.

Sorry to hear about Cletus . . . was Cletus the one left on your door step or was that crusty?

Poor Stevie Ray, glad he is doing fine. Did you see him get bit? Hopefully he will know to stay clear of snakes now.
