'level-headed'

greg woodie Oct 08, 2006 09:29 AM

i don't think the forums should be used as an arena for insults or insinuations just because someone happens to be less knowledgeable about a given area. what works for one person may not work for another. having the former title of 'curator' doesn't make someone an ultimate authority or give them the right to force their opinions anyway.

It's easy to assume that you are referring to my posts below.

>>i don't think the forums should be used as an arena for insults or insinuations

Please tell me where I insulted you or anyone else in my recent posts. I referred to herper79 as levelheaded, are you deducing that the rest of you are not? It would be pretty unfair to put those words in my mouth.

>>just because someone happens to be less knowledgeable about a given area.

Greg, I have talked to you about switching over Easterns, and offered you personal assistance in the matter on multiple occasions. In this case, you in particular can not claim ignorance because you've had the opportunities that others have not been afforded. (For the others, this poster and I have been infrequent acquaintances over the years)

>>what works for one person may not work for another.

This is a pretty vague statement. Are you trying to say that it's YOUR personal preference not to feed mice and has nothing to do with the preference of the snake?

>>having the former title of 'curator' doesn't make someone an ultimate authority

If you notice, I only used my title in defense of a very insinuating question. My title is directly relevant to the amount of experience I've had, without it, my explanation would have been difficult to portray. I challenge you to look through all of my posts and see how many times I've used my title to promote my beliefs! In the few times I have, I can assure you it has only been in defense of my position and not part of a superiority complex. Instead, I have relied on the fact speaking for themselves. As far as the ultimate authority part, I have yet to see anyone else step up to the plate and do as much digging as I have. I regularly visit all of the hognose forums on the internet that I am aware of, and no else has as much literature or spent as much time on this matter as I have. I WELCOME anyone to do the research and objectively review the literature and challenge me on my claims. I would love to have the ability to effectively find a resolution to the Eastern diet debate.

>>or give them the right to force their opinions anyway.

Force an opinion? I'm just trying to force some legitimate evidence out of the anti-mouse people. I think most of the resistance to using mice has been a result of people not like being told they are wrong since they are still holding onto the old wive's-tales.

I will return to your first statement...
>>i don't think the forums should be used as an arena for insults or insinuations

This forum is for meaningful discussions, if you have a personal problem with some of my posts, you should take them to email. These types of posts are the farthest thing from constructive mechanisms of communication.

'it's nice to know there is another level headed person on here.' 'For the 'others', in the years I've been on this forum, no one has ever found a source of feeder toads that are legal, CLEAN, collected sustainably, or captive bred.'

how else should this be construed, Cory?

all i did was ask where i could get feeder toads. then somebody else gets on here and says "Why?" and then you get on your soapbox. why don't you ask John White what he feeds his Hognoses? i bet it's not mice! i think you overstep your boundaries sometimes. i also thought it was rather presumptuous of you to make the comment you did a while back about you not understanding why my friends and i have to keep everything we collect. we do nothing of the sort. i know you're pro-conservation and that's all well and good, but i don't need a lecture. no offense, but i'm through dealing with 'academic' types. i'm sure my friend Mike Kinsler will say the same, if not more emphatically. we've grown tired of not getting any help at all, as in the case of the VHS, or way too much information. with that, i will say farewell. it was nice to have made your acquaintance, though it wasn't the most pleasant experience.
