05 Black Kingsnake (Tenn.) local

I love how this guy is turning out as he grows. He had an ever slight pattern when I first received him, and now he's pretty much solid black along the dorsal region. My taste for nigra is I either want one that's solid black, or one that has a heavy pattern. No inbetween. I was very pleased when I picked up this guy.

Wow!!! An almost ALL Black individual!!! Been a loooong time since I've seen one of those (with no remnants of pattern)
Very nice Steve! Post pics every six months or so, especially if he keeps "bleeding" out the rest of his (very few) white specks.

You don't see too many nigra for sale on the classifieds. Some of the ones I do see for sale are intergrades with holbrooki. I don't think there's any lack of solid black nigra out there. All you have to do is take a look at Phil Peaks's website and see there are plenty of individuals simular to mine. It's more of an issue of them being marketed in captivity.
Also, I think the better looking nigra on average are found in Kentucky/Tennessee, which is not surprising because that is where the heart of their range is.
Stay safe over in the sand box Zee, and look foward to seeing you when you get back.

Who'd you get that screamer from? Was it one of Pete's?
Thanks for sharing!

Thanks Phil. This male nigra came from Exotic Pets out of
Las Vegas, NV. I saw a pic of him on the classifieds and said to myself, "I must have that snake" And then I went to my wife and said "Dear, can I please have that snake?" She said yes, and life was good.

I love it when that happens! My brother lives in Vegas and I've visited Exotics before, they have a lot of really cool stuff.
The last time I was their they had the largest Boelen's Python I've ever seen. Unfortionately I didn't hit the BIG one so it didn't get to come home with me. LOL! Oh well!
