feeder comparison question

begunwithaletter Oct 08, 2006 02:28 PM

For all you guys with big adults, do you feed jumbo rats, guinea pigs, or rabbits?

I've had my rescued adult female eating either jumbo rats or rabbits, and I've thought of trying guinea pigs, but I'm not sure how they compare, nutrition-wise.

The only difference I've seen is she seems to gain weight faster eating rabbits, but her poop smells much worse, and she passes a LOT more hair...

My females are just over 8 feet and weigh 33 pounds each.

The only thing they eat is 2 large rats every 2 weeks.

So, I guess you could just feed you large boa rats and it would do just fine. Even a skinny boa will put weight on with just rats.

I don't like to feed rabbits or ginea pigs. I've heard they have problems with ginea pigs, but I've never fed them to my boas, so I can't say if they actually do or not. I don't like to feed rabbits, because...... Acutally I just think rabbits are really cute and that's why I don't feed them off.
