I haven't seen my grey king for a while

grey_king21 Oct 09, 2006 12:33 PM

My 3 year old, grey-banded kingsnake has been hiding for 2 weeks now. He isn't coming out from under his bedding at all. When I changed his water the other day I looked around for him under the bedding and found him. I touched him to make sure he was still alive and he did move. I know he is in the shedding process, but he usually doesn't hide this long. He will at least come out for water. I am not doing anything differently that I have before as far as helping him shed. Does anyone have any suggestions on this or am I just being a paraniod mother?
Thank you
Kirsten

This is a time of year that they would not be very active. If he is exposed to the natural light cycle, like through a window. He may very well know what time of year it is. As long as he is healthy I would not worry about the amount of time he stays out of site, they are very secretive animals to begin with. Just keep an eye on him, I am sure that he is fine.

I appreciate your response. I didn't even think about the light effecting him, but knew the heat and cold would. He finally appeared yesterday and shed all in one piece. He is now in his house and I'm sure vey hungry.
Thank you,
Kirsten
