Midnight Blizzards..

andrewfromsocal Oct 09, 2006 12:44 PM

Exactly how rare are these guys..and are they not 100% breedable?

I'd love to get my hands on one, but I almost NEVER see them for sale, and the ones I have seen are upwards of 900$.

Does anyone have any information?

Not very rare at all that I've seen, we've even seen them at local chain pet stores, prices comparable to a nice blizzard. I'm sure one from a good breeder would be more, but $900, no way.

That was the only one I have seen for sale, but then again, it was some trashy dump in Long Beach who had 3 full grown sliders in a 5 gallon tank. Should have known better.

Is the morph breedable?

I'm not quite sure what you mean by breedable. If you are referring to producing more midnights, then yes, ofcourse.

I checked out your website and your leo's looke great. I think that looks like a blizzard more than a midnight blizzard though. Unless it was a bad picture (lighting), that was a little light in color to be a midnight.

I want one so bad. Not bad enough to pay 250$ for one, but real bad, haha.

They are farly rare still in working progress.Midnight blizzards are not to be mistaken for cold/stress blizzard.I'm Sure if the dark colored one's from the pet stores where put in a healthy happy environment they would very likely would soon lighten up back to there own selfs.Granted they maybe the odd one or two in the odd pet store but they are fare from common.True midnight blizzard can NOT lighten up they are dark all the time the result of line breeding .

Leos change colors when cold or stressed out?

begunwithaletter Oct 09, 2006 11:15 PM

My midnight was only $65 but my local shop totally cut me a deal on her, since I've been on the lookout for one for so long. I've noticed that she lightens up a little bit at night, but most of the time she's super dark, and soooo neat! She looks CRAZY on paper towels...

Here's some photos to illustrate the difference. Top photo is what she looks like when she's lightened up, bottom photo is what she usually looks like.

Nice pics. Yeah, that's their usual midnight color...I call it purple popcicle...haha.
