Lizard hammocks for ratsnakes

TwoSnakes Oct 09, 2006 03:18 PM

Hello
I know someone here uses them as saw their pics and was going to order for my 55 gallon tank but since than have made my ratsnakes a large enclosure (PVC -Glass front) .
Wanted to add a few of the lizard hammocks but not sure of weight they can hold . I have 2 ratsnakes M/F yellow .
I am looking into the large hammocks anyone use them ? they are easier than adding shelves as I have branches already would be nice to also have resting areas which are "high".

Thanks

The hammocks I've seen are designed to be held onto the sides of a glass tank via suction cups. I can't imagine the suction cups would hold that much weight but if you were to use wire to attach them to your cage sides somehow I imagine they'd hold a decent sized ratsnake. I use plastic flower pots the same way to provide elevated hide spots in my Taiwan Beauty cages. They seem to like them just fine and tend to hang out in the pots quite a lot.

Well since I house my Taiwan Beauties in Reptarium cages I simply used plastic cable ties looped through holes drilled in the sides of the pots and around the poles of the cage frame or branches inside the cage. It's not very natural looking but it works.
