Is it normal for boa's to change their color darker? I never seen a color change except in this one. I think his color gets darker when he is on the cool side.

It's not unusual. Some get lighter or darker depending on time of day, how close to shed they are, if they are hot or cold, sometimes mood even. Getting darker when cold makes perfect sense - dark objects absorb more heat from the sun.

But if he is cold wouldn't he just move to a cooler side?
He will move to the warmer side if he's cold, but he still might be dark. However, boas change color for a lot of reasons - it'd be tough to tell if yours is cold, or stressed out, or going into shed. It's not abnormal for boas to get darker or lighter, though.
