Has anyone ever used.......

blueselaphe Oct 09, 2006 04:03 PM

Has anyone ever used cage designs from reptile-cage designs.com? I saw a post in bearded forums and went to the site. It is def. a sales site, that's for sure but the cages I saw looked ok. I tried to order the book but (I HATE) Paypal doesn't accept FPO addresses ( the only address you can use to get stuff mailed to you over seas). So I guess this gives me a bit of time to do a bit of research to see if it's even worth it to buy the book. Thanks for your input, Blue

No, as a hobbist carpenter as well as Herp keeper I design all my own enclosures. With a few ideas and contributions from Chris and a few others.

However that doesn't mean they are a bad way to go. One possible solution would to order the book and have it shiped to a family member CONUS. They can then take it to a post office on or off base and ship it to your FPO address. I know that mail from Conus base post offices to FPO addresses was free for a time I am unsure if that is still the case.

Either that or have someone send it BITS. LOL

Good Luck

While I think Blue will appriciate the link I believe he is looking for ideas more than one particular design. Hey but I could be wrong.

I think the important thing (and this goes for everyone) is to build a cage that suits you husbandry and taste. I myself have never bought a plan to build a cage, but I have read books on cabinetry. I have also searched the web and have visited thousands of websites looking at cages, setups, and facilities.

In all this information gathering I have learned two things. One no set plan will fit my needs, and two everybody has great ideas. With all this info I can increase my knowledge base and build exactly what I need.

So my point is that although we can get plenty of plan books on things we need or websites posting the same. I think taking all the best of everyone and molding them into what you like best is really the key in DIY caging. Even with a plan you still have to build it, so one should always feel free to mold plans as they need.

There is no shame in having two much information, good luck to you both.

Hey, that was a great link! I am getting as many ideas as Ican collect right now. BigHurt is right you can never have too much info...Plus, I can't afford to make mistakes with these cages, not that I don't have the money, it's the wife!!! I built her a book case once. It ended up being a book slide... It's great cardio though and good for streching the lower back!! LOL Thanks again, Blue
