Marker for het albino?

mistysprouse Oct 09, 2006 04:08 PM

So after 3 clutches of babies all from different mothers but with the same albino father I have noticed 1 thing in all the babies. They all have a light spot on the top of thier heads.

Anyone else get this with 100% hets for albino? Or noticed similar things that go down the line in other morphs?

Hi there,
I noticed the same spot on the heads of most of mine. Im not sure if its resonable to use this as an exact marker, because I have two 100% het females that dont have it.I also noticed that they all get gray belly scales as they mature.

sorry my website doesn't seem to be working today so my picture isn't loading.

All of my baby snakes both male and female have the spot on the head. when my site functions again you can see all 3 clutches I have had.

It's most likely just a trait that is carried through the fathers genes that has nothing to do with being het for albino - a theory I have with het pied markers too. I've got easily half a dozen normal girls with the same head mark - I've got even more normal girls with "het pied markers".

I have 4.4 het albinos and the 0.4 all have intense yellow on sides down to the belly. None of the males have it, 3 of the females are sisters one is from a separate breeder completely unrelated. The males though are from the same breeder as the one female. I have a CH that is exactly like my het albino girls and she will be paired up eventually with a het albino or albino male. All my het pieds have a similar pattern to each other, really wacked out. Got 1.3 50% het pieds this year from my male and 1.2 of them look identicle to dad, kept 0.2 and sold the rest.
