What they actually are???

Hi all,
I bought these 3 guys as Hog Island boas at Terraristika Show, in Hamm, Germany a few weeks ago. However, as you can see they look quite different from classical Hogies. I have also noticed that they have some WC-like scars. Needles to say, they were full with mites after purchase, but I could get rid of them in 4 days. I would gladly hear any opinions regarding their locality.( I have also been considering whether they are crossed Hogs or not.)

Best wishes,
Adam

They appear to be Hog crossed with mainland Central American Boas. Your Boas are neat looking whatever theya are!! Sorry you had to deal with mites. They are not very fun to mess with....

They look like the classic wild caught Hogs. Back before people refined them for certain colors they were very dark and speckled. Not many people breed them to still look like the old WC ones.

Great looking snakes first off !!
Second ...... how old are they ? length/weight?
When were these pics taken ? morning ? evening ?
Some late evening pics would be helpful.I see some things that doesnt denote pure strain Hog Island BCI.A nice clear belly shot would be nice if you can manage ?
The scares could be from anything, handleing, feeding etc.
Again Great looking snakes.

Hi there,
They are about 2ft and 280g. Pictures were taken afternoon. They do not show any visible changing of phases.
Attached some belly shots. They remind me rather Nicaraguan bellies.
Thank you for help.

All the best,
Adam

They are neat looking boas, some type of central american, but not hogs.. I wouldn't think they were even hog crosses. I'd guess farm born nicaraguans.

First of all, thank you for your comments. Altough the question remains whether where they come from, I am sure that we will know more about them 3 years later when females give birth. To tell the truth, I really hoped that they are true WC Hogs, since we know that WC specimens are darker and more speckled than CB ones. Anyway, I like them whatever they are.
Finally, here is a CB guy that is certainly true.

Best wishes,
Adam

This is an F3 generation hog, (Klingenburg line). Produced by my 11 year old F2's, There aren't enough generations to selectivly breed for anything here.. My male is great looking but my female is quite average looking they produce babies that look like this evey time. This is what a wild hog would look like. No breeding for less speckles here, I actualy think the speckles make the color stand out better IMO.

I hate to say it but the pics of the animals in question are not hogs.

I too have seen WC hogs and they look nothing like those. They do look like the this last animal pictured. A guy by the name of Mark Wehndling here in Iowa used to have some wild caught hogs that were spectacular. This was about ten years ago and they were in their teens at that point. They have since passed on. I Wish I still had the babies I purchased from him years ago.
