? about my enclosure

MMommy2mygirls Aug 06, 2003 10:07 AM

Currently, my ig is a free roamer for the most part. I have a 10x20 sunporch that she mainly stays in that has a climbing area to bask on the top etc. Also she can sit in the window (screened in) for sunlight.

My question is, inside of the porch I want to make a partial type enclosure that can be humid for her. It will have an opening that she can come and go as she pleases. The porch doesn't hold the humidity well and it also will be hard for us to enjoy it if we can't breath lol. Is there a way I can make just this one part humid without affecting the rest of the porch much? What would be the best way to raise the humidity inside? I saw a fogger thing, or a humidifier? I also thought of using a home made drip type thing but don't know if that will be enough? What is the ideal humidity level?
Thanks!
Renee

Foggers work great, the biggest problem is iguanas are big and clumsy. So they tend to break those foggers. I learned the hard way when they first came out. Stick with a humidifier (cool air) in the enclosure. You can run it for an hour at a time as needed to keep humidity up. Or you can move to wisconsin where it is 60 degrees and everything is wet with humidity in summer.

Thanks for the response! I wanted to get some remarks before making the purchase. Good to know all the good and bad of these things .

do you think that doing this partial enclosure is a good idea and will be good for my Ig?
Thanks
Renee

As long as you can provide good temps and are comfy with the free roaming, give it a shot! Watch for changes in behavior indicating stress. Lack of appetite, not doing business are the biggest things to look for.
