Low humidity doesn't seem to be a problem for bulls in my experience. Having a humidity box available is a good idea, particularly during a shed cycle. As for reading, check out "Pine Snakes: A Complete Guide" by W.P. Mara, publ. TFH -- it covers all pits, not just pines. Also try to get ahold of the April 2001 issue of Reptiles magazine -- it has a great article on pits by Patrick Briggs. There's also an article on gophersnakes in the May 2003 issue you may want to check out. Finally, Carl Kauffeld writes about bulls in "Snakes:The Keeper and the Kept" and about northern pines in "Snakes and Snake Hunting", both publ. by Krieger.
