I am excited. I just sat down to figure out next years breeding plans. I have 11 females to breed next spring. The following year I should have at least 5 more!!
The year after, I will have milks ready to breed as well!

Anyone got any exciting new projects that they are working on?

The biggest thing I have is to prove out whether my amel is an amel blood. The rest are all basic phases of corn from bloodred to ghost, normal, hypo, motley, so on. Still looking forward to all the eggs. I might have to quite my day job just to keep up with all the babies, once they have hatched!!

the only exciting thing i have planned is proving out cobra...hes a normal het for hypo poss amel/anery. so i'mma prove out the hypo with gracie lou. i'm looking for a male hypo stripe to breed her to since shes het stripe... if i had a female blizzard i could have blizzards next year... of course more miamis.... charlotte X romeo. Emily X Henry VIII just to see if emily has any hets. and of course my cal kings... eve and wishbone, which i assume the babies will come out similar to yours, misty. and if i find anything cool or interesting at the reptile show breeding size(which i doubt i will) i'll snatch those up too! now in 08 i should have hypo zigs, maybe caramels if my hets prove out, amels, anerys, of course cal king stripes maybe even cremesicles. ok well, i'll stop rambling, can you tell i'm excited?

I was told that the genetics for striped kings is not the same as in corns. I was talking to the guys on the knigsnake forum because I was wondering. But they said there are no "het" for stripe with kingsnakes. It's a different type of genetic "thing". Didn't want to dash anyones hopes but at least now there wont be as much disappointment when they don't come out that way. Wish I was wrong becasue I was hping to do the same thing.

I would have to agree that it is not exactly the same. As I did breed 2 stripes together and got only 75% stripes(including aberrant stripe) and 25% banded. Although, the mother was an aberrant stripe (spotted) and i got spotted babies. I might have to bop over to the king forum and find out what is up with the genetics, if they say it is different. Here is a pic of the mother. I got a lot of babies that are spotted like her, so it leads me to believe the spotted (broken stripe?)is genetic right along with the stripe.

oh!!! no, i have an albino stripe cal king and the male i was gonna buy was a spotted/striped....kinda like motley stripe, but het for albino. i do have 2 cal kings who are striped and 1 is supposedly a male, but i'd rather have a 100% male. you live in the richmond area, right? what kinda king do you have??

I have a male striped cali king that is about 4 ft long now. I got him last spring from a disgruntled mother. The snake kept escaping and she gave it to me. If you want to use him for breeding let me know and I'll loan him out to you. It would be interesting to see what would come out. Here's a pic of him from last spring.

excellant. I like her looks. Have you seen the reverse striped cali king at Fin and Feather? I wanted to buy him but I thought the $99 price a little steep.

i've only been to fin and feather once and fell in love with a lil turtle that i knew i couldnt have so i never went back... one day....

The only big thing I have going on is possibly my first hook up/s. Hope is breeding size but I don't have anything for her to breed with. Chunk is now old enough so I will be pairing him with Molly to get het albinos, but she has been sickish and am not sure if she will be fit enough to go this spring. So it's all or nothing this spring!

I haven't weighed her... She is probably just over 3' but she is only about as thick as my pinky. She has the length but I would bet she needs to double (at least) her weight to be up to speed. They are only a year and a half old.... I am only breeding Chunk because he is such a big guy for his age. I am crossing my fingers though. BTW could you please e-mail me about the proper way to brumate? This will be my first year.
