is there a danger of introducing a new lizard into the same room as one that may have a parasite? i would get all new stuff and have it in a separate cage. just want to make sure that there wont be a risk of the new guy getting it.

You will need to be extremely careful with regard to hygene. If you handle/feed/do anything in the enclosure of one, you need to wash your hands very thoroughly before doing anything with the other.
Also, if you suspect that your current lizard is sick and/or parasite-ridden, a trip to the vet would be a good plan - that way you can find out for sure and act accordingly. I would take care of this before getting any new animals.
