I would like you opinion

KenCasstevens Oct 11, 2006 03:39 PM

This male was purchased off of RetileAuction last year. He was supposed to be true Thayeri, but as you can see I have my doubts. He looks too much like a Thayeri/Greyband cross. I don't want to take any chances so I'm just going to keep him as a pet, and not introduce him into my breeding stock. I would be interested to hear what the rest of you think about him.

I can't help but agree Ken, he does look suspicious.

Still too hard to say for sure, too bad there are mutts out there passed off as pure. Makes us all question anything unusual. They are not called varible for nothing though.

Thanks for your opinions. He is a gorgeous snake, but like I said just to be on the safe side I will not breed him. You're right Rick they are called variable for a reason, and it does suck that anything off the wall we now question because of all the people passing off crosses as true blood. He could very well be true Thayeri, and might throw some awesome babies, but because of his look he's doomed to be a virgin in this house. lol. Poor guy.

Ken:

In my opinion, that is almost certainly a hybrid. I have seen lots of thayeri of known lineage, and none has looked quite like that one. So, good spotting on your end and thanks for witholding him from the future gene pool!

Cheers,

Bob
