Rhino enclosure

rlpc117 Oct 11, 2006 08:26 PM

Hi, I'm currently planning to build an enclosure for my new rhino baby, just wanted to see how others do their job and how they look like. Any particular problems or things I have to be aware of? Please post a pic if you have one or any link that i can go check out would be great. By the way, I know many owners and breeders put their adult Rhino out door, so what about raining or bacteria? what are the safty measures of putting a rhino outdoor?

The bigger the better. Your rhino will grow fast!

Oh how old is your rhino? is that a room that you remodeled into an enclosure? look nice.

outside, my biggest concern is heat. Can your Rhino get as hot as he wants when he wants that includes cooling down. Mine go into their hides when the pressure drops and its going to rain. It has to be escape proof and they will climb and dig. If he escapes a "cage" in your house there is a good chance he is still in your house. Outside, he is gone! Ants can be a problem depending on location as can mites. There are probably lots of other things to think about. Make sure you know what he needs and can you provide it outside. Anyway thats what came to mind.

It really depends on what you can provide. I built 10 X 12 X 9 feet enclosure's. Main heat/light source is a 1000w metal hal light with full sprectrum basking lights. fresh air ducts to the outside and night time heat source. Main rule of thumb is bigger the better!!!

Freshly cleaned!

Mark, nice work. I remember a while back you working on the new enclosures and I was wondering how you were setting them up. Nice and easy to clean. Any chance you are going to the SJ show?

Thanks. Havn't heard anything about SJ. Tell us about it.
