First of Two questions...Cages for Burms

Rob Lewis Oct 12, 2006 10:24 AM

Hello,

I know that this type of question has been asked before but I have not been able to find much by searching the archives so I am hoping that I can get some help again. I need two cages for two approx. 10' burms. This will be short term winter housing (3-4 months) but they will be on display so I don't want them to appear too cramped. I am thinking somewhere in the neighborhood of 8' x 2.5' in size. In my searching it seems that everybody and their brother makes a 4' x 2' cage but when you get into the bigger sizes, selection is limited. So, I am thinking AP but would love to hear from anyone who uses them and/or hear about any alternatives that I may not have found. I would also, at least at this point, prefer manufactured to building myself. Thanks for your help.

Rob

Hi Rob

Here is one suggested link www.constrictorsnw.com

They make super strong cages and can send you 2 cages (with one open end each) that bolt together to make one 8-footer. The material is HDPE (like AP cages) which is really easy to clean.

Of course, Boaphile can do the same thing with PVC cages (2 cages that bolt together to make an 8 foot cage.) These cages are great at holding heat but are not quite as strong due to the 1/4" material involved. Still good cages. I have some and really like them.

And one more - Boamaster. They advertise on the classifieds here at KS. Wood cages that break down for shipping. Really nice. I think melamine coated.

Good luck.

I just so happened to look at the classifieds here at kingsnake.com, market.kingsnake.com/index.php?cat=22 yesterday and saw an 8ft. cage by Boamaster. Their ad says they're based in Bedford, VA. Here's the ad: market.kingsnake.com/detail.php?cat=22&de=362431

Unfortunately, I don't have any first-hand knowledge of any of the prebuilt cages or companies.

Good luck!
