Pit Addiction...

viborero Oct 12, 2006 11:12 AM

Well, a few months ago I posted an Amel Pacific Gopher that I had acquired and everybody told me I was gonna be hooked...you guys were right.

These are my newest additions in the last couple of weeks:

1.0.0 Het Amel San Diego Gopher Snake
2.0.0 Sonoran Gopher Snake
0.1.0 Amel Sonoran Gopher Snake

I've also been on the lookout for Cape Gophers, Mexican Pines, and some mates for my San Diego and Pacific Gophers.

I have another confession to make: I have been thinking about getting some Bullsnakes also.

I need help!

It will not stop after you get the bulls. Then you will move onto other pits to buy.....
There is no hope.

Haha, and I thought I was bad, you have a ton of animals!!

Man, just when I thought there WAS a ray of hope, a cure, a light at the end of the tunnel, you go and squash any hope of escape... haha.

Oh well, someone's gotta' do it right?

Beautiful snake you have there!

I think they have a twelve step program at "Bullsnakes Anonamous."

Great looking snake you have there. Unfortunately, there is no cure for pituophilitus. Once hooked, always hooked.

I am currently working on an experimental cure, I call it, "More and more and more."

Yeeahh! I'm hooked and lovin' it! Of course I've only got a couple of regular ol' het for nothin' WC Gophers. 1 is an '06 Pac from out in W. Lancaster and the other is an '05 Great Basin from out in Hi Vista. Can't wait til they're old enough to breed.

Yes it is an addiction. My first pair of snakes were het albino bulls from Mark Wendling. I then bought a pair of albino sonoran gophers. That was in 1995. I have since moved on to working with ball pythons, carpet pythons, and boas. I always kept my affection for pits but they were not in my collection until recently. I purchased a pair of hypo bulls and a trio of albino sonoran gophers a few weeks ago. It is nice working again with the species that started my snake addiction. The best part is that the pits are just pets I am keeping for fun. I started to lose track of the fact that this is supposed to be fun. Working with ball pythons can do that to a person. They have NO personality compared to pits.

Man, you got that right! I think it has to be the Pits' personalities, along with the plain and subtle beauty that makes them so dang cool!

I like all snakes and appreciate their differences, but when I go into my herp room for whatever reason you can pretty much guarantee I'm pulling a Pit out of it's enclosure before I leave.

Hi Diego

Tell me about it. I've had the joy of working/getting addicted with vertebralis, catenifers, jani, lineaticollis, and some cool bullsnake morphs. I still have a few more that I want to add but until I can get a bigger herp room these will have to do for now, hehe. To me, pituophis' character in general is never plain may it be the "attitude" or attentiveness to the keeper. They are very interesting captives. Most of the people overlook these guys are missing out on all the fun. Here's one of my additions this year, a female axanthic het snow speckled.

Is that 1 of your Pacifics? I checke dout your website. Cool. You're up in NoCal, right? Have to get up that way and do some herping. I'm down in SoCal (Chatsworth in the San Fernando Valley), and plan on looking for some Santa Susana Mtn. San Diego Gophers.
