Second one this year. One or more clutches left to go. Hope I get one or two more.

BTW. Whenever I "make" something cool like this striped butter, I always remember it never would have been possible without the discovery of the caramel gene by rich. I didn't cap his name for obvious sensorship reasons. Thanks to him for all his contributions to our passion.

Congrats and well said. The stripes are turning out to look better than the butters. (Surprise to me, huh?)

Got your male yet?

First one was a female and second one a male. By the book. I love it when things work out like that.

Congrats, Don. I hope your luck is just as good (or better) for the remaining clutches.

Great pics Don. That striped Butter is awesome. Perfect striped too. Sometimes I just can't believe the censorship. It is all so childish. It is bizarroworld if you can't type the name of the godfather of corns on the corn forum

That's the entire first clutch after they shed. Striped amels., amels., butters and that striped butter. Some of the stripers have that yellow ground with orange stripes and some don't. rich will know more about this, but I suspect the ones that are yellow are carrying the caramel gene. I'm sure it's not that simple though. Since I used amels., to make these, there were no caramels or caramel stripes. Shouldda thought of that before I decided on red eyes for this project. Oh well. Striped butters are better than a sharp stick in the eye, eh?

Here is a shot of one of last year's products from this crossing. I only had six good eggs in that clutch and I missed out on the striped butter. Here is one of the non striped, non butter byproducts of this project next to a regular striped amel corn.
