would you pair up specific Boas, and have them produce nothing, before giving up on that pair?
This is year two that I've had this happen. The female is acting interested. I've seen her lift her tail and drag it around the cage. She's a little darker than usual, has looked a little swollen. I haven't seen the male do anything. In all fairness to the male, I don't really look in there very often. Could he be a "sneaky Breeder"
If a male is a bum two years in a row, with a certain female, is he usually a bum no matter what?
This is frustrating, because the male is a very nice normal.

Here's the male, he's an 03:

and the female, she's a 2000 baby:

they both look good. Try them with different partners if you have enough snakes, or try putting the shed of a different male in with the two, see if that helps.

Those are the classic signs of a non interested female. Tail up and dragging around and dropping urates is the stay away from me signal.. She isn't ready, I wouldn't think it's her age, but may be the time of year. Some females come into "season" at times of the year you might not think to even try her for breeding. About the best thing to see a female boa do when a male is advancing on her is nothing, her just sitting there.

I'd just keep trying them, seperate them, feed them, give them a week or 2 and try again. At some point you will get them to go. I have had a couple of males I couldn't get to breed, and thought this male is lame... Soon as I broke and let them go someone else is showing me pic of him breeding 2 weeks later....LOL...

Looks like a interesting project! I like the aberrant stripes on that female, the males a looker too.

I was thinking that same thing. Why not just leave them together until they get it done? It's not like I have any other pairs to work with this year. Last year, they both got restless in July. Knocking over the water bowls, circling around and around the cage constantly. I waited until September to introduce him, because I had read that it was a good time to do so. He courted her for four months, on and off. I noticed some swelling, but nothing like the ovulation pictures I've seen. She didn't take.
Letting them decide when they want to do it makes sense to me.
Do you remember waiting for your first litter?
It's enough to drive one mad!!
