Getting off the goini treadmill

Tony D Oct 12, 2006 07:16 PM

here is a snap shot of a group of Northampton County VA easterns I hatched out this year. It isn't the best shot but I thought it was neat enough to save.

I posted my question at the same time you posted this photo.
What are the odds?
Thanks,

Evidently pretty good LOL. Yeah that male was a screemer. He was kinda hard to leave there but I already had a pair so he got a pass. Funny thing about this population is that the vast majority of animals I've found are not classic examples like this male but are instead extreemly thin banded. To me they loook very similar to negrita. I've found many this year from the population and two had classic patterns, one was wide banded and the others extreemly thin banded. As it turned out the neonates were more well patterened than I expected. I'll try to get around to posting a pic of a more typical example of this population in the next day or so but in the interem heres another shot of the insitu male.

Yeah,
The babies that James has are really thin white banded, which is a nice contrast to the Virginia Beach local that I have.
Thanks for the pics!

This is a lousey pic but it does serve to demonstrate a more typical specimen from Northampton County.

Hey Tony,
There's a friend of mine here in Virginia Beach that has some of your North Hampton Co. Easterns, and I'm tempted to get a pair. Do you have any photo's of the mother?
Thanks,
-Phil

Thomas,

Its funny you metioned that because i like these to.

It is kinda weird because I generally go for the more high white or wide-banded types we find in my home area but these are SO glossy black I can't help but like them too.
