Did you know about this mirror specie?

Of course many of you know about clown agamas! But what do you know exactly?

Well maybe I can share my tot about them and how they relate to beardie keepers.

First for the purist thinking nah forget it they are agamas! Well beardie are agamas too!
But lets stick to what’s interesting, this adult female will nest her 4th clutch this year, this is 2 clutch less then my Alfa female, not bad!!

Apart from being prolific, hears how they shine.

Size; smaller then beardies!
Color; more colourful then beardies!
Food; less vegetarian then beardies!
Heat; need less heat then beardies!
Water; they love water!
Personality; they call them clown agamas, this fits them well, funny guys!
Hand ability; if beardies score a 5 these are 4.5
Caging; similar to beardies except for heat!

Special traits; they understand glass and don’t rub or smash on it like so many lizards.
They are display lizards that don’t spend time hiding, I like they way they occupy space, they climb, jump, run, and search food over and under things. In this regard my beardies seems like couch potatoes in comparison.

I started working with them last year, deer fern farm also started doing them, hopefully others will pick up on these close to perfect lizards soon.

Enjoy!

Thats very interesting. even though nothing could take the place of my beloved beardie, these look and sound very interesting. may I ask how much a baby would run me? I live in California.

Sorry I am from Montreal, I paid $70ea for adult imports, this is cdn funds, have no idea on price in USA.

At first I wasn’t impressed with them, but when they settled inn and reproduced, I started seeing them with a deferent eye, with time I realised they have qualities not seen in many lizards, for instance they live in communes, many individuals of deferent gender do well together, babies can be raised with adults and feed side by side.

Mutilation from food competition is not a problem.

One of the few species that can really be called pet lizards.

That is a cool looking little one! Do you know how long they live for?

Thats great. keep breeding them and get them out there. Get others to breed them. Until that happens you forgot to mention 1 major downside. 99% of them are still wild caught. Once yours start hatching let me know, I'd be interested in several of them.

Yes its true most are imports, in fact as we speech my breeders are imported adults.

I have no immediate plans to offer them, however I will follow your way of thinking and send them to experienced breeders first.

Being Canadian I can only ship to US breeders with import license.

WC are easy to acclimate.

These sound like really cool lil lizards. How much are you going to sell them for? I'd be really interested in having one.

They are indeed one of the coolest lizards, very pretty too!

No plans about marketing them yet, right now my family and me are enjoying these fun lizards. However the future looks bright for them, if I enjoy them so will other keepers.

I had never seen one of these before you posted about them. I'm gonna be looking around for them. Might be the next big thing. I'd definately buy 2-3 of them. I'm gonna start searching.
