Still Lots of DOR in S Brewster

Eby Oct 13, 2006 08:29 AM

I haven't been hunting lately, but I drive 25 miles on 118 (from north of "Frontier" to Study Butte) every morning to take my kids to school.

I've been surprised by the number of DOR. I'm used to seeing 3-5 DOR weekly along this route. For the last 3-4 weeks, I've been seeing 5-10 weekly.

I rarely have time to stop for positive IDs (chronically late). From what I have been able to ID they've been mostly atrox with an assortment of molossus, bull/gophers, bogeys, hypsiglena and at least one emoryi.

What have the temps been when you've been going out?

Daytime temps have been in mid 80's to low 90's. Cooling off to 70's around sunset and 60's around midnight. Then down to 50's or even 40's my early morning. Haven't taken any readings on ground temps.

I haven't been hunting, just driving my kids to school in the morning but keeping my eyes peeled for DOR (way to cold at 7am for AOR).

Also, my last post seems to have put a jinx on things. I haven't seen a single DOR since.

Still seeing lots of lizards, one really nice bull/gopher and a couple of blacktails during daytime hikes.
