Bringing Back Snakes from Mexico

manog Oct 13, 2006 01:50 PM

Hello all,

I will be traveling to the Yucatan and while there will be bringing back a group of Yucatan Milk Snakes. They are not in CITES. What other problems/ laws are there with bringing back a 1.3 group of snakes?

Any help will be appreciated.

Even if they aren't CITES, it's still illegal to just "bring them over" without the proper importation documentation. You basically have to "import" them into the United States as they are subject to a few international wildlife laws on both sides of the border.

If you get caught without the right paperwork, it's smuggling.
