Dumb Snake

mystimel Oct 13, 2006 05:11 PM

Soo... I have a really dumb baby western. The past couple times I fed her, she accidentally bit her own tail. She realized it afterward and released it. (then went for it again!) Anyone else seen this happen?

It's kinda funny. At least she doesn't hurt herself doing it.

When snakes know it is feeding time they get excited by ever little moviement. Her head doesn't realize that the little yellow wiggly thing is her own tail until she bites down. Just be lucky its not a kingsnake as they have been known to eat themselves into a circle.

Heck! Be thankful that she's got a good strong feeding response!

Yeah, she's been feeding well, especially lately. I think she's going to shed soon so she probably won't eat next week.

It's rather good that hogs are rear fanged. Otherwise she might have hurt herself.

Remember, if a hog will bite it's own tail thinking it's food, it will also bite your fingers thinking they are food. So, keep your hands out of their feeding bin when they smell mice. ^_~
