Set ups....

KenCasstevens Oct 13, 2006 05:58 PM

Let's see some pics of you guys set ups. I have a two bedroom apt, and when my roommate moved out a couple years ago I decided to not get another roommate, and just turn that room into my snake room. Kinda funny- my herps get the big bedroom, and I live in the smaller one. My co-workers joke that my snakes have their own bathroom. At the rate I keep increasing my reptile family I'll have to get a house soon. lol.

Here's mine, glass tanks in Family Room, and assorted racks from Jason Van Kirk at Rosy's, Racks, and More. Please ignore all the junk.

Adjustable Book Shelves and Tanks;
Those are adjustable shelving units (book cases) I ordered from a store called Wood Works. I ordered them at 14 in. deep instead of the normal 12 ". They cost about 120.00 each. One was a 3 ft. and one was the 5 ft. tall By 3 ft. wide. I built a hidden compartment In the upper right hand unit, from extra shelving boards. Very simple just an extra 6" shelf and I used Magnetic cabinet latches to hold the door on( removable door ). I drilled 1-1/4 holes (easy to push plugs through ) from one cabinet to another, at shelf elevation (in hidden compartment) and also vertical In the Corners of the shelves to run wiring. each tank has a bottom Heater and light. I used three 6 way power outlets in the units, One for the lights, One for the heaters, and one in the hidden compartment for light timers for the heaters. I can turn on all 6 lights at once with the power strip switch located on one side of a tank. My heaters work off one light timer switch which is in the hidden compartment along with any extra cords,
I also have racks in the garage where I house most of my snakes and hatchlings.
