Rat Snake Forum or Here? Spilotes Pics

vegasbilly Oct 13, 2006 10:53 PM

I posted these in the Rat Snake Forum but the only time I see any Spilotes references is in here. Pics of 1 pair of F2 cb Tiger Rats that should go this season. Dog tame, rarely the bluff move but thats about all. Puppy-dog tame once out of the cage.

those guys only care about bairds. lol! that one seems to be almost completely black dorsally. don't think i ever saw that before. any locale on them?

HaHa! You're right though Subocs seem to be getting alot of run lately. No locality data on these. My wife and I are going to Panama in January to look for property to purchase and build a second home on. We're looking at lots above 3000' so as to minimize the humidity and bugs. How cool will it be to see a Spilotes cruising by??

Plus, the travel opportunities from there will be crazy!

Those are the "stoutest" Spilotes I think I've ever seen! How did you get them to "beef up"???

None of mine have that "triangular" look that alot of them get. I have a friend here in Vegas that started a Pheasant hunting camp and he bought like 4,000 hatchling Pheasants!! Well, the initial mortality rate was enormous (evidently they're about as stupid as domestic Turkeys) and he bagged up a couple of hundred of them and froze them for me.

The feeding response to them is incredible! I feed them 2-3 of those/week and when they run out they'll get 1 medium rat/week each which is barely a "maitenence" diet for these pigs!

The only drawback to Spilotes is they're never ending appetites! Sometimes I wish they only ate the same rate as my Emerald Tree Boas do.
