dont house any snakes together unless they are conditioned for breeding. and only then temporarily.

You can. But it will be a pain to feed.

whos advice should i take...lol?

jasonmattes Oct 14, 2006 11:23 PM

I'd keep em separated. Not because I'm worried about the housing two snakes together crap but because its a pain to feed em together.

...crap huh? how long have you kept snakes? what if one of them get sick? if housed together, what are the odds the other will get sick too? also, how will you know which one just took a crap on the floor and is ready to eat? that helps me determine when my snakes are ready to eat. oh yeah, and feeding can be a pain too. take my advice chicken, and keep em seperate, for lots of reasons.

I've kept em long enough. People freak if you want to put two snakes together but are inbreeding the crap out of almost everything. (inbreeding is real healthy huh?) If he was asking to breed you'd tell him to put them together, how is this different? All the same risks apply but you are willing to take those risks for personal gain right? I feed once a week why do I need to worry about who pooped on the floor?

... of anyone who bred snakes without putting two together. so if i have 10 snakes should i just build one big cage and keep em all together. my snakes are on a schedule, 3 meals and then no more food until they deficate. this was suggested to me, i took the advice, and it works great. no regurge, great growth rates. do what you want with your animals. the kid asked for advice, i gave him my BEST. keep snakes healthy, keep em seperate. less chance of cross contamination by viruses, parasites, etc. not to mention cannibalism. a local zookeeper one kept a male and female chondro together at the zoo. they were not conditioned to breed, and kept toghether all the time. well, one day the girl got hungry. now they have one fat female.
how long is long enough anyway?

chonjoepython Oct 15, 2006 01:11 PM

why even risk it. good call, keeping them seperate.

jasonmattes Oct 15, 2006 04:07 PM
