My son fed the snail and pleco their wafers today and freaked b'c the turtle was eating them.

What do you think of this? I figured it oculdn't be too bad since they can live in green water (lol)and eat plants w/ algae on them.

Just wait and see how much he freaks when the turtle eats the snail and the pleco.

Ha ha ha!!! I really didn't expect that answer, but it has me laughing.

He's only 5 and gets quite concerned for him. OUrs is only about 3". I've had an Anachris (sp?) plant in there for a few weeks now and he didn't know Tarzan was supposed to eat it. I had to calm him down just a few days ago when he saw him.

Do you think since he's growing up w/ the pleco and the snail that he may not ever think they are food? He hasn't tried so far, but the pleco is larger than Tarzan.

He'll think they're food... perhaps the pleco will grow fast enough and always be bigger than the turtle.. they easily get a foot long or bigger. Otherwise, odds are he'll end up lunch. The snail is definately a goner.

Oh hmmm,,,,,guess I'll break it to my son gently.

He was prepared to watch him eat feeder fish, so maybe he'll be ok if this happens to poor Gary, the snail.

You can't have a turtle eating Spongbob's snail!
If it's one of those pretty big snails it will probably be ok for a few years, although I personally could never keep the darn things alive in my fishtanks. But to an adult turtle, snails of any size are a yummy snack.

Ha ha ha!! The kids love Spongebob. Most of the time the turtle's name is "Tarzan Bite B......." I did hear "Tarzan Spongebob B....." once.

Oh, I guess you figured the pleco is named "Patrick"

I had a painted turtle that grew up with fiddler crabs. As soon as he was big enough, he ate them.

I told him about it and asked what he thought if Tarzan ate Gary. He told me, "I'm going to think he's crazy"

Not sure if I'll wait and let nature take it's course or if I'll try to combine Gary w/ Birthday (teh Beta).
