Question - patterns of corns all from the same clutch...

Traci May 20, 2003 03:33 PM

Hello! Is it possible for every hatchling in a clutch to have the same exact markings as one another? I thought I knew the answer to this but just want to make sure. Thanks!

No it's not possible. At least the way I'm thinking of it.

Think of the snakes as if they are humans. Brothers and sisters may look similar to each other, but they are all different in some way or another. Even if the pattern is extremely similar, I'm sure with a scale by scale inspection, the pattern/coloration would be different.

The only way that they would look totally the same is if you happen to have 2 snakes hatch from the same egg, aka, twins.

So, I guess, in a way, you could have a clutch of babies look exactly the same if you only had one egg and it happened to have twins in it. But that would be highly unlikely to only have 1 good egg that just happened to have twins.
