No - just because the snake has a ringer does not mean it's het for pied.

i meant was if when breeding pied hets together and you get a ringer would it still be a het pied?
thats what i meant to ask.
If you breed 2 hets together - anything that is not a pied would be considered 66% possible het pied. The ringer is something entirely different from pieds so don't confuse it with being a sign for or against the possiblity of the animal being pied.

I think some people have drawn an association between the number of het pieds that also happen to be ringers.
I do not believe anything scientific has been proven, or any conclusive link has been made.
I think it's like the "Pied Markers" trait, (the two black rows of scales running down either side of the belly by the snakes vent). Some people believe there is an association between this trait and het for Pieds also.
While nothing has been proven scientifically, people usually seem to "hold back" these animals in a cluch of 50%ers over the animals that do not have the markings?
I wouldnt buy an animal on this alone however, but it cant hurt to buy a 50%er that is a ringer, or has the "Pied Markings" and it is fun to try and prove them out.

thats what im woundering, my local store has hatched out some 100%het pied and one is a ringer, i was woundering if this would be a good buy its a male and they are asking $150..
it was from a pied male to a het pied female, so would this offspring be 100%pied het.
thanks
Are you speaking about a pet store? There arent too many pet stores (actually none), at least by me, that carry Pieds, het Pieds, or even know what the heck they are? With that said, if this place has a visible Pied, then ALL the non-visible babies are 100% het for Pied. If you are going to buy one of the lone males, however, why not choose the "ringer" animal also if it is the same price? I wouldnt pay very much extra for the ringer, unless its a really nice example of one, 'cause in all reality, you arent getting anything extra genetically from the ringer since all the babies would be 100%ers.
