Hatchling care tips

waldo Oct 14, 2006 04:35 PM

I just brought home a baby creamsicle corn, he's in a small holding cage until I get his 10 gallon set up.
All the pet stores are out of aspen right now and I don't really want to use care fresh, is paper towel ok for now? I've had pythons before but this is my first corn. I'll post photos in a bit, he's eating right now.

I'd stick with the paper towels, even if you can get aspen. Paper is the way to go for hatchlings imo!

I use paper towels for hatchlings. They can crawl under the layers of it to feel secure. You can better monitor it for feces or regurgitations. I use the blue colored shop towels that you can find in auto part stores. They are thicker and do well over an under tank heater. I also keep my hatchlings in sterilite shoe boxes (Walmart sells them) until they grow to a length equal to one side plus one end of the shoe box.
