Looking for European Pond Turtles

mneumann Aug 06, 2003 12:51 PM

Looking European Pond Turtles so Dottie can have a friend.
Does anyone know where you can find this type of European Pond Turtle.

I was told this was a female because it laid some eggs.
The tail is long but not fat. Eyes are yellow, I have read that
males have red eyes?

She is going in the 1800-gallon pond this weekend.

Females have long tails in this species. Need check where the vent is, how far from the carpace. Females tend to have rather flat plastroms, males have highly intented ones. Best way figure out the sexes is by the plastrom.

It looks like a subspecies that comes from Russia region (Eastern Subspecies). I have a 3:2 combo that I'm not parting with.
