Crescent Moon Creations?

PercyP Oct 15, 2006 01:48 PM

I have seen this company mentioned a number of times, and they seem to be very highly regarded. However, I cannot find any further information on them; I have yet to come across a web page and I have not seen any pictures of the cages.
So, has anyone here worked with these cages? Do you have a web address for them? And, most imporantly, does anyone have any pictures of setups they could post?
Regards,
PP

Crescent Moon Creations is the name of a woodworking company owned by a guy named Rick Senior. He works for the City of Lake Forest, Illinois and designed and built a number of wooden cages for the Wildlife Discovery Center at Elawa Farm, which is run by Rob Carmichael and is part of Lake Forest Parks and Recreation. Rick's cages are all made from I think cherry veneer plywood with solid face frames, and hunter green contact paper interiors. Openings have bypass sliding doors with roller tracks for the glass doors. They're great looking cages but pretty pricey. Unfortunately I couldn't say exactly how pricey. You can navigate to: http://www.cityoflakeforest.com/cs/rec/cs_rec2d2.htm
and get Rob's contact info there. He can tell you more about Rick's cages if you want.

Here's a pic showing several cages made by Rick for the WDC.

Thanks for the reply. It's good to finally see these cages after hearing a number of good reviews.
Do you happen to know if there is anywhere on the web where I can get more information about these cages?

As far as I know, Rick doesn't have any kind of website. In fact I think the only cages he's made have been for Rob, unless other people had found out about him and were having him build cages for them. Where did you hear about them?

Thanks for replying again.
I first heard of them in connection with Rob Carmichael, intrigued I searched for them and found a couple of references in some online care sheets, I can't remember any off hand but i think they were mentioned in an Indigo Snake care sheet.
Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

Ah-ha! Rob wrote a care sheet on Indigos that is on another website in which he mentions housing them in the Crescent Moon Creations cages. He keeps one at the WDC in one of those however at home I believe he keeps them all in Neodeshas. Rob usually has pamphlets available regarding Rick's cages when he does shows, but as far as I know that's the only way anyone ever finds out about the cages. I don't know that Rick actually has built any of the cages for anyone other than Rob.

Hi Matt -

I don't have any personal experience with these cages, but Rob has on a number of occasions referred to them glowingly in his postings on Kingsnake.com. So that's how I know about them.
