Snakes over eating

bullybully Oct 16, 2006 12:38 PM

I have heard of snakes trying to eat a meal that was to large, but has anyone heard of one over eating? I thought they would not eat if if they weren't hungry. What harm could become of feeding heavy as long as the snake is growing and defecating regular? I think you would rather be on the heavy side than not enough.

Snakes are opportunistic feeders. They will eat all they can when food is plentiful for those times when no food is available. If allowed to, they will overeat and get fat and lazy.
